KLARKOMMEN (Coping) CRISIS

no present-dealing-opera

How would it feel if nothing new were emerging ahead, if the present offered no support, and if the past dictated everything? And what would happen if things simply couldn’t go on as they had so far? If fear were to suddenly become quite overwhelming, or if that sense of gloom were to grow very intense?

The situation would be dramatic. So dramatic, 16 young adults would have to take over the opera. The opera as an arena for negotiating resistance or social upheaval. As a stage for grand emotions and a space for shared existential endurance.

Wrapped in blankets, the 16 experts in active crisis management retreat there. They form an organism, a body, a collective self, and together activate the self-healing powers of a generation, whilst constantly wrestling with their inner selves and negotiating with the outside world. For what would an opera be without hope?

We are delighted to be able to offer live audio description, including a guided tour of the stage and tactile guidance, for the performances on 5 & 6 June and 11 & 12 July.
Peter Luttringer and Simon Kubat have worked with the production team to translate the action on stage into spoken language, so that KLARKOMMEN can also be experienced by people with low vision or who are blind through the descriptive audio description.
